Fees
You pay twice: once when you win the part, and once for the ocean freight after it has been received and measured. Everything below appears in the calculator before you bid — this page is the same arithmetic, written out.
The first charge
Taken when you win an auction, or immediately when you buy something at a fixed price. It is the item and everything it costs to get it into our warehouse in Japan.
- Item price
- at cost
- Japan consumption tax
- as charged
- Japan domestic shipping
- at cost
- Platform fee
- 10% + 10%
- Import tariff
- 15%
- Exchange rate
- +4%
What the auction closed at, or the fixed price. We do not mark it up.
Some sellers charge it and some do not. Where it applies we pass on exactly what the seller charges.
What the seller charges to send the part to our warehouse inside Japan. Theirs, not ours.
10% of the item price (minimum ¥1,000), plus 10% of the Japanese domestic shipping (minimum ¥1,500). It covers bidding and buying on your behalf, paying the seller in Japan, receiving and handling the part, currency conversion and payment processing. It shows as a single line at checkout.
A pass-through, not margin — it is what we are actually invoiced on recent containers. Tariff policy moves, and this figure moves with it.
Yen converted at the live mid-market rate plus 4%. Every currency conversion costs something; this is ours, stated rather than buried in a worse rate.
The second charge: ocean freight
Billed after your part reaches our warehouse and is measured, because the size of the box is what decides it. You see an estimated range before you bid, worked out from parts in the same category that we have actually shipped — not from a table of guesses.
The top of the range is a cap. If your part measures larger than the high end of the estimate you were shown, we absorb the difference rather than passing it on. That happens on roughly one item in ten.
Freight is priced by volume rather than weight, which is why a light, bulky part such as a bumper can cost more to ship than a heavy compact one. Parts that genuinely need more handling — engines, transmissions, heavy differentials — carry a labour amount on top, and it is included in the range you are shown.
What we never do
- Charge a bid before it wins. A hold is placed, and released if you lose. A fixed-price purchase is the exception — it cannot lose, so it charges at once.
- Take a subscription or a membership fee. There is no monthly cost and nothing to cancel.
- Mark up the item price, the seller’s shipping, or the consumption tax.
- Bill you more ocean freight than the high end of the estimate you agreed to.
Seeing it for yourself
Open any listing and the full first charge is calculated as you set your maximum — every line above, in dollars, before you commit to anything. How it works walks through the whole process, and the FAQ covers what happens when things go sideways.
